Redfield 3200 Floating Scope Rings. U.S.A. made reproduction.
Floating internal rings allow for misaligned or non-parallel front and rear blocks. Centerfire and rimfire clamping screws included.
The Redfield 3200 scope, being rigidly mounted, should have both rings co-planar. If both rings are on a straight-taper barrel, or both rings on a constant-diameter receiver, then it's good.
But if the rear ring is on the receiver and the front ring is on a tapered barrel, then the front ring will be angled slightly and also may be lower. A 3200 scope mounted that way will not sit nicely in the rings and may get its tube stressed or even bent, depending on how aggressive you get with the scope clamping screws.
The floating rings allow freedom of alignment while the scope tube is clamped.
