Pretty in Plink
When Steve Lester from Turnbull Restorations told me that they were introducing a Turnbull blinged Browning BL-22 I immediately told him to put me on the list for the first deliveries. The BL-22 is a quintessential plinking machine. I purchased a BL-22 micro for my youngest son when he was six. He has tried his best to wear it out. It has provided countless hours of lever action plinking, plenty of rabbits and squirrels and still works like a brand new gun.
I immediately knew how I would build the BL-22 up with optics, but the scope would be tough to find. I wanted to match it up with an original Browning branded Redfield 3/4” tube “mini” and original steel redfield 3/4 tip off rings. The Redfield branded versions are hard to find in great condition, the brownings nearly impossible. As luck would have it, shortly after placing my order for the rifle I was able to secure a collection of Browning minis. We ran them through our optical refurbishment, including a nitrogen purge and we had what we needed to build a handful of these rifles. A couple of the scopes even came with the original browning clamp mount for a unique and second mounting option.
Matching one of the most robust and beautiful lever action .22’s with the highest quality 3/4” tubed scope ever made makes not only for a beautiful and perfectly proportioned rifle/scope combo, but also a handy and fun plinker that will not sit in the gun cabinet.
We currently have enough scopes in stock to provide this combination to four customers. Of course, the rifle alone can be purchased without the scope either through us or direct from Turnbull Restorations.
