Steel Tubed Weaver Scopes Provide Functional Reliability for Arctic Conditions
Here at Vintage Gun Scopes we typically refurbish or fully restore scopes for the collector, whether that collection sits in the safe, on the wall, or goes to the range or hunting field on occasion.
That said, we also offer what we call functional “good” scopes for those folks that either have an old gun in their collection that requires a little patina in order to match a well-used gun, or for those folks that appreciate the functional reliability of a scope that is simplistic in design, can withstand the elements, and will last, without issue far into the future.
Our friend and customer Richard Kudlak of NWT, Canada is one of those folks that uses our functional good graded scopes. He and other members of his village prefer the old Weaver scopes for their bullet-proof reliability and durability in an extremely harsh environment.
Having had the pleasure to hunt many times in and near the arctic, I can attest to the fact that a rifle and scope up there doesn’t have to be pretty, but it darn sure better be functional. The success of the hunt depends on it and the village depends on the success of the hunt.
At Vintage Gun Scopes, our scopes are sold with a difference. The difference is that every scope is tested and brought back to “functional new” condition regardless of the cosmetic condition. Through our refurbishment process each scope gets a parallax check, reticule check, adjustment check, internal clean, lens re-lamination and parts replacement when necessary, new modern grease, professional cosmetic grading and a fresh nitrogen purge so that it will function as it did the day it was new, even if its now 70 years old or more.
Richard recently sent us some pictures of the Inuit lifestyle. And in his “Innuinaktun/Eskimo” language a hearty “Koana”, meaning thank you. We thought we would pass these photos along to you to enjoy.
